This number will put you in touch with organizations like The United Way, Salvation Army, and other charities in the area.  Each town/city will have different churches or organizations that will be willing to lend a hand.  Don't be ashamed or afraid to call if you really need help.  It's the first step in finding your way to a better you.

The United Way

The United Way is a worldwide charity that is willing to lend a hand with rent, or utilities, or food or shelter.  You will have to search on your favorite search engine for more local support and local contact numbers.  Click here for the worldwide site.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is an organization that will usually have a soup kitchen to get a hot meal, sometimes more than once per day.  They may also offer day old pastry or bread that have been donated by local stores.  The Salvation Army also offers fellowship with their religion based organization.  Click here for the worldwide site.
